Bristol Rovers are on the verge of securing their eighth summer acquisition as West Ham Under-23 centre-back Michael Forbes looks set to join on a season-long loan, bolstering Matt Taylor’s defensive line-up.

Forbes, who extended his contract with the Hammers last season after notable performances with West Ham’s under-21 team, caught the eye during the EFL Trophy match against Wycombe Wanderers. His ability to handle a particularly tough opposition was impressive.

According to Football Insider, the deal for Forbes was finalised earlier this week, with the Gas and the Hammers agreeing to terms. Although the 20-year-old has not yet played for West Ham’s first team, he made his international debut for Northern Ireland in a match against Finland last November.

This move marks Taylor’s sixth defensive signing of the window, but it’s the club’s first loan acquisition. More loan deals are anticipated as the window progresses, with Premier League and Championship teams evaluating their rosters and the development paths for their young talents as the pre-season gets underway.

Connoisseur of salted caramel doughnuts and I love a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza although I'm slightly suspicious where the name came from.

When I'm not moaning about West Ham I can be found walking a dog that looks like a sheep and tinkering with pinball machines.
