Young Iron told his chance is close

|

OxfordDavid Gold has sent big words of encouragement to Reece Oxford who has been patiently awaiting his first team chance.

The 17 year old made six appearances in August with a notably outstanding performance against Arsenal in the opener at the Emirates.

But since then he has been with the Under-21s whilst undergoing a progamme aimed specifically at his development as the club prepare to launch him onto the big stage again.

There have also been rumours that he is being watched by Arsenal and the Manchester teams with bids of around £8 million mentioned for next summer.

But the Hammers are disinterested and co chairman David Gold has made it clear that the youngster is not far away from selection.

He has been on the bench for the last two games and looks set to be part of things at Swansea as the Hammers search continues for a much needed three point boost.

When a fan tweeted his surprise that Oxford hasn’t featured recently Gold replied: “He is in the squad and on the bench, he’s very close, his time will come.”

He should always be on the bench if not the pitch as he can cover all the back 4 spots as well as cover for midfield,
Agree with John about RB to,his best position has not been found jet and RB is as important as CH,
As a Englishman be good to see him play regularly as we could use him in the Europeans as well he is good enough,

He should be in the team now, at least a little more regular. I believe he would make a great CB in time but to develop him I would seriously consider giving him minutes at RB. I saw him a few times playing this position – simply outstanding. I would certainly try this before I spend millions on a RB. I also would send Jenks back to Arsenal if we can.

Good to see a graduated development, FAT HIPPO wouldn’t even have given him that
