Youngster leaves

Another West Ham youngster has left the club.

Justin Osagie has moved from the Hammers to join Celtic on a permanent deal, the Scottish club have confirmed.

Osagie is a Republic of Ireland U19 international who plays primarily as a defender.

He had made one appearance for the Hammers’ U18s but is now set to move north of the border.

The Scottish giants confirmed in a statement on their own website, as per Caught Offside: “Everyone welcomes Justin and Francis [Turley] to the club and wishes them all the best for the future.”

There have been a variety of kids leaving the club in recent weeks and months; Sonny Perkins was perhaps the biggest headline-grabber, while Emmanuel Longelo was also allowed to leave on loan, along with Armstrong Okoflex.

There has been an issue recently with young players finding their way into the first team, leading to exits from the club.

Osagie is the latest Hammer to go, and he will be hoping to work his way into the Celtic team and prove the Irons wrong.

  1. We’ve been highlighting this concern for a while haven’t we Dave? What irritates me is Moyes has clearly blocked them out of first team appearances (facts) and some fans berating the players for leaving as ‘greedy’ or ‘ego driven’. No just starved of a career path – See Perkins doing well, watch for Longelo now, and Alese starring for Sunderland first team and scoring this weekend!! At ours Moyes preferred a full back out of position to Alese, or used bloody Masuaku as makeweight. Open your eyes please.

  2. This becoming to regular??

  3. If they are good enough they will make it every one wants to buy in top players what do you expect where do you give these young lads get ago. so they have to move on or be exceptionally good to break in to the squad I don’t think we have missed to many shining lights so I don’t know what you keep craping on about just another story I suppose

  4. West Ham fans like to see players coming through the famed ‘Academy’ and hate to see them leave before getting a chance. However…… this same process all over and has helped West Ham by snagging those youngsters .. maybe Brian Kinnear, Pierre Ekwah, Mipo, Armstrong Oko-Flex and Thierry Nevers….. can follow in the footsteps of Declan Rice?
