Youngster leaves on loan

Alfie Lewis has left West Ham on loan.

The 21-year-old has struggled for minutes at the Hammers in recent seasons and has yet to make his first-team debut.

Instead, he has played primarily with the U23s.

He has been a veteran for the youth setup, making 70 appearances and scoring six goals.

He also made 25 appearances for the U18s.

Lewis was on the bench against Chelsea in the Premier League last season but he has never moved up to the first-team and has now joined St Patrick’s Athletic in the Republic of Ireland.

St Pat’s season will get underway in March but the club finished sixth last season and will hope to improve on that finish in the League of Ireland Premier Division this season.

Lewis will be out to play regular first-team football and will hope to make an impression before his return to east London at the end of the campaign.
