Pablo Zabaleta is on the last leg of a brilliant Premier League career and is hopeful that Wednesday night will become the first highlight of them as we head for City.
The Argentine right back – whilst admitting his great feelings for Pep Guardiola’s side – is more than hopeful the Hammers can make it a great night.
The last thing in the world he would want to be is a member of a relegated squad in his last appearance for a team he has served well since arriving on a free.
He knows City better than most having been there for most of his career in the country where he became a real terrace hero. Now, however, he has to put that behind him as the Irons go in search of points to lift them out of the bottom three.
Having returned from a winter break spent in the family home in Barceloa, he will be ready should manager David Moyes decide that he needs his experience down the right side
And speaking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/february/17-february/pablo-zabaleta-west-ham-must-go-manchester-city-positive he said: I have said that this will be my final season in English football, so these last 13 games will all be special experiences for me, as I have been here for 12 years and have so many great memories.
“We go to Man City on Wednesday night and it will be my third visit with West Ham since I left them in 2017. Personally, I got great receptions from both sets of fans and I am looking forward to going back there one final time and, if I get a chance to play, I will do my best and then say thank you to the fans after the final whistle.
“I am a West Ham player now, of course, and I am looking for us to win the game, but I will always have a lot of love and respect for that club, as everyone knows.”
“We all know the situation we are in at the minute and we’ve got two tough games coming up now away from home, but we need to play with the mentality of trying to get something from those games, and then the key will be our home games.”
“Ultimately, though, the table does not matter until the final day of the season, and I think the best thing for the team is to take things game-by-game.
“We need to go to Manchester, put in a good performance with the aim of winning the game. If we could get three points, that would be great.
“West Ham won at the Etihad not too long ago, and you never know in football. Man City have dropped points at home this season and we must go there believing we can get something.”
From the team that collapsed at home against Brighton who gave one of the worst forward lines in the league!
How many of the West Ham players would bet their weeks wages and back themselves to get a result?
That being said I’m travelling up tomorrow hoping to get a result.
I’m probably more deluded than him!
Good luck Dave, hopefully some kind of miracle is on the way 😀
