Zarate returns to Argentina

zarateWest Ham striker Mauro Zarate was at his old club Velez Sarsfield in Argentina yesterday fuelling speculation that a return to Argentina could be on the cards after a disappointing loan spell with QPR this season.

Zarate managed just 71 minutes on the pithc for relegated QPR after his January arrival on loan. He made just four second half substitutions for the Hoops against Burnley, Southampton, Sunderland and Hull, three of which resulted in losses.

Zarate was fined two weeks’ wages worth £80,000 for throwing a tantrum before QPR’s defeat against Liverpool.

Reports in Argentina suggest he trained with his old team yesterday with Velez Sarsfield fans present begging for his return.

Zarate is in Argentina with his family after the season finished on Sunday.

A West Ham club insider told Claret and Hugh this morning “It would be very rare that we’d let a player train with another club”

  1. As with Nene and others, thanks to our former genius I have no idea if this is good or bad news, talent and skill wasn’t to be tolerated. Hopefully in the new era we’ll once more return to that much feared word entertainment

  2. Think we should at least give the lad a chance under a new manager.Hippo never wanted him as a Sully signing, but the lad did himself no favours to be fair.

  3. If we play in the europa leauge next season we are going to need a big squad.

  4. He should maybe be given another chance. He wont be the first ‘flair’ type player ignored by Hippo.Just ask Ravel,Nene & Zarate himself.A new manager might be able to get the best out of him.Who knows.Worth a go i guess.

  5. He is entitled to a holiday at home and is still a contracted player now it’s up to us to make him feel he still has a future at our club until our new manager decides otherwise,
Come back Mauro with the right frame of mind train hard embrace our club as you did when you first arrived and see where it takes you, running away will not help you in life all the best things are worth fighting for as us fans have proved by putting as much pressure as we could to get shot of BFS
