Reports that a club from Saudi Arabia has had a transfer bid accepted for Hammers captain Kurt Zouma are incorrect, as the team expressing interest is actually from Dubai.
Furthermore, as stated earlier, the chances of receiving a fee for Zouma are next to zero, with reports of a £20 million bid being completely false.
Claret & Hugh spoke directly to a top West Ham source this evening, who confirmed the Dubai bid. Unfortunately, the Hammers insider also revealed that the offer is to sign the defender on a free transfer.
However, such a move would still relieve a massive burden from the club’s wage bill and free up an additional space in the squad. West Ham is keen to move Zouma on, as C&H revealed back in October.
The Frenchman, who signed from Chelsea for £30 million, is in the final year of his £125,000-per-week contract, having been told it will not be renewed.
I think moving him on a free transfer & relieving us of his wages is the only solution I feel.
It’s better than paying him off and or taking his wages and not playing.
Yes. Makes total sense. I don’t see him getting game time this season unless it’s in the early rounds of the Cup competitions, or of course a big injury crisis. So having the opportunity to move him on and be able to free up his huge salary is an excellent opportunity.
I think this makes sense, and play Casey in the early cup rounds to give him first team experience.
So sad for Kurt Zouma , I doubt that he can even kick a cat now . Westham knowingly bought a crock and so he’s cost 16 million a year for three years ( 6 million wage plus 10 million a year over three years ) . Spend the saved 6 million on someone who can play in Lopetegui’s high line , highly mobile game play .
Shabib Al Ahli the club negotiating for him apparently but also interest from several Saudi clubs. It would be left up to Zouma though as I don’t think he would be forced out the door if he didn’t want to go.
I would love to see him gone. But can’t see anybody being stupid enough to bid on him, he could never pass a medical.
Zouma going on a free makes sense. Saving £6m in wages will help the recruitment team massively.
A warmer climate and less demanding league would suit Zouma, much like it rejuvenated Kante’s career.
Hoping Steven Gerrard does a favour and buys Danny Ings. Only destination that can afford his £6m wages.
We’ll be lucky if someone takes him on a free and picks up his wages, if somebody is prepared to do that then snatch their hand off.
