Zouma surgery raises several issues

|

Kurt Zouma’s injury is another blow which hopefully will not over stretch our back line when the Premier League campaign swings back into action writes Hughie Southon.

Hopefully, Nayef Aguerd will get sufficient action in Qatar to help him adjust quickly and we have Kehrer along with Craig Dawson over whom a big question mark regarding a move away must now exist.

With Angelo Ogbonna clearly not the player he was before last season’s injury it also means, that unless a new signing is made, we are also likely to see Ben Johnson used at central defence.

It’s not good news of course but the injury problem suffered by Zouma is not new although it would be unfair to blame Moyes for signing him as the major issue goes back to the 2015/16 season when he missed 286 days and 32 games with the initial problem.

Since then he has missed just 14 games and one can only hope and pray he recovers quickly from the surgery he has just undergone which we can only hope won’t keep him out for too long,

Should that not be the case we are probably more likely to see a loan signing rather than a further permanent addition.
