West Ham United fans and Directors alike have no doubt been sweating on former Captain Kurt Zouma’s medical as he seeks to seal his move away to Saudi Pro-League Club Al-Orouba. Since his last failed bid to pass a fitness test, much work has gone on behind the scenes to get him a new deal to ensure that this time his transfer goes through successfully before Friday night.
Trusted journalist from Sky Sports Dharmesh Sheth has reported favourably in what is seen as very good news for the club in its bid to get Kurt out of the club and off the wage bill. Writing on his twitter / X account, Dharmesh confirmed:
‘Kurt Zouma close to finalising move from West Ham to Saudi Pro-League club Al-Orouba. Zouma has completed his medical & now finalising terms. Move is initial loan with West Ham contributing small portion of wages. At the end of loan, he will be a free agent.’
The details of which, whilst not ideal for West Ham, make no mention of a lump sum payment from the club to Zouma, rather instead picking up a part of his wages but getting the bulk of his £125,000 a week off the Hammers’ books and with the players’ contract finishing at the end of the loan -which I’m assuming is in a year’s time as his West Ham contract expires then.
Look to see this wrapped up quickly now, and very good luck, Kurt.
If this goes through with us picking up only a small proportion of the wages as stated then it will be the deal of the window…
Out of it at minimal cost, we must have played a get out of jail free card.
