Medical Complications | Rethink at London Stadium

West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma’s proposed transfer to Shabab Al-Ahli has hit a snag, with the player rumoured  – but not confirmed – to have to return to the UK after complications arose during his medical. Is anyone surprised!

The Frenchman’s injury history has led to renegotiations of the contract terms, which Zouma has subsequently rejected. This unexpected development leaves the future of the 29-year-old uncertain, as he is no longer in the plans of manager Julen Lopetegui.

West Ham had hoped to offload Zouma to free up wages but the defender’s situation now creates a potential headache for the club. With the transfer window closing soon, finding a resolution for Zouma’s situation will be challenging.

The Hammers have already strengthened their defensive options with the signings of Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo, but the failure to move on from Zouma could limit their ability to further bolster the squad.

It cannot have been unexpected that complications would arise : All week end we have been scouring news sources and trawling sites for an update in response to ours and many readers’ requests. Expect more to follow on this saga as I am 100% certain Zouma has played his last minutes in a Claret and Blue shirt.

“I am 100% certain Zouma has played his last minutes in a Claret and Blue shirt.”

I’m interested in how you can say 100% certain, what else does your crystal ball tell you?

He’s gone! Knackered! Maybe last half an hour if that. Needs 2 weeks rest after every game but would need to be available for every match to justify staying. Nowt wrong with saying 100%. Hit the nail on the head. If he stays he’d be 4th or 5th choice for a game. You just being argumentative. Chill man…

Well said Simon Lewis. There’s a lot of unnecessary responses appearing here recently. Wasn’t like this last season.

By all means disagree with comment, but please try for a little politeness.

The only surprise is that anyone is surprised.
Unfortunately time has caught up with his injuries, you don’t have to be a medical expert to see that….

    • Jaro says:

I wonder if WH can cancel his contract on the grounds that he’s unfit for work? Cos although he’s able to play, it’s not at the level required.

  • Charlie Farley says:

    Contract cancelled by mutual consent?

  • Mr Buddy Lurve says:

I suspect it’ll be a case of buying him out of the remainder of his contract. No way it can be cancelled as he cwill argue he can play; the level he can play at is subjective.

  • D says:

It probably didn’t help when they saw him enter the medical centre with a zimmer frame.

  • John Ayris says:

I said that it would be the transfer of the window if someone took him on a free but picked up his wages. It never did seem terribly likely.

  • Pongo says:

Let’s not worry about the zouma situation it will be resolved one way or another, what we should now be focusing on is the game against villa, we should all turn up for the game and give our entire team especially the new additions to the squad a rapturous reception to the London stadium and show them our gratitude for joining West ham, and we should make so much noise and support throughout the game that villa won’t know what’s hit them. Then perhaps we can give them a 4 nil spanking and make Duran push villa to except a reasonable offer for him. Coyi

    • AdzG says:

Was thinking exactly the same @Pongo. The crowd need to be the 12th man on opening day against Villa. In fact every game but that’s a given.

Well excited for the future at West Ham and realistic as well that it’s going to take time for everyone to gel and get settled. What a statement of intent from the board, Tim Julian et al this summer Window!

Carling here . I’m the daddy

  • Clint hill says:

Who are we trying to kid that zouma was going to pass a medical..the guy can’t hardly walk let alone run…but we need to get him off the wages bill asap..

  • Graham says:

Don’t forget that he did a lot for us since his transfer from Chelsea. Loyalty cuts both ways

  • Trevor says:
