Allardyce: “Song can nullify Liverpool threat”

Sam Allardyce admitted before the match that Alex Song has been drafted in to bring cover to the back four and as a creator.

He said: “We have to respect the fact that Liverpool are a great attacking force and Alex is accomplished in bringing cover to the back line and can create.

We need him to nullify Liverpool’s attacking threat.

“If we are to get anything we must not concede the sort of goals we did against Southampton – that has to stop.

“We have to make sure we take the chances that come our way as they are fewer against the top teams.”
