Carroll set for Goodison ‘level three’ step up

Andy Carroll enters level three of his comeback from injury at the weekend when he heads for Everton with the Irons squad.

And in line with Sam Allardyce’s programme he is likely to make  more than the  five minute cameo performance he was allowed against Aston Villa.

Since then he’s featured in a behind closed doors match against Fulham, scoring one and setting up best mate Kevin Nolan for another!

Word from the training ground is that he’s looking particularly good and that he could get half an hour in his next run-out if game conditions demand at the weekend.

Allardyce has claimed the striker will need six games to complete what he called his “pre-season” and the weekend game could provide more clues as to who the manager sees as his most likely ‘partner’ when he gets the call.

A source told ClaretandHugh: “Andy’s looking bis, strong and up for it. He’s very likely to make another big step down the road at the weekend.”
