Defender talks set for speedy conclusion

West Ham are confident that Winston Reid will sign a new deal in the summer.

We have reported previously the club want to offer the defender an improved contract in return for dropping or allowing the release clause in his current deal to be lifted.

That is believed to be set at around £15 million and although the club have received no enquiries or offers for the Kiwi they are taking no chances.

Early talks are understood to have been held and all the indications are that a satisfactory conclusion will be sorted out once the season is over.

Despite regular speculation over the last couple of seasons that Arsenal and Spurs have shown an interest there has never been an offer and the Hammers the player eventually signed a six year deal in 2015.

We were told this morning the club sees no problems in concluding  and expects talks to be concluded with the player speedily-
