Gold: ‘I really liked Jenkinson’

David Gold is sticking to a prediction he made several weeks ago that Andy Carroll will be back in action by November.

The co-chairman told ClaretandHugh: “Talk to Andy and he will say the end of October, talk to the medics and they will say the end of November.

“I’ve always been in the middle so I’ll be surprised if he’s not back by mid November.

“He’s going to be kicking ball this week an isn’t that far away from rejoining the first team squad.

“He has had both his major injury problems sorted out and should be good for the long term now – we are looking a stronger and stronger squad.”

And commenting on yesterday’s 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford he said: “Considering we had three top players out I thought we were great and I really liked Jenkinson.”
