Hammers set for “try before you buy” policy

Those expecting West Ham to splash the cash on permanent deals this summer may well be disappointed.

For ClaretandHugh understands the club will continue to adopt a transfer try before you buy strategy this summer.

David Sullivan and David Gold are likely to bring loan signings for a season with first option to buy them at the end for an upfront agreed price.

Recent experiences with Modibo  Maiga, Matt Jarvis, Alou Diarra and Stewart Downing who are believed to have cost £25m between them has sharpened the minds!

We understand that David Sullivan prefers a more sensible approach by loaning players before parting with large amounts of cash.

Last season the Irons loaned Roger Johnson, Antonio Nocerino, Marco Borriello and Pablo Armero with none of them impressing sufficiently to warrant permanent deals..

As exclusively revealed by Claret and Hugh young strikers Michel Lasogga and Domenico Berardi are likely loan targets for the season to prove themselves in the Premier League before  attracting permanent contracts.
