The second round proper matches get underway on Friday night when Harlepool take on Blyth Spartans whilst among the teams fighting for a chance of meeting the big boys on Saturday and Sunday are Cambridge United, Maidstone, Warrington, Worcester City, Dartford, Telford and Southport.
The third round match will give the Irons boss an opportunity of introducing one or two players who are in need of match time.
However, he can’t relax too much in his selection with David Sullivan and David Gold making a decent cup run a priority.
Gold said: “We have a powerful squad and we are looking forward to the competition very much. The FA cup remains a fantastic competition and it could be an exciting year for us.”
