West Ham will have talks with Arsenal in a bid to make Carl Jenkinson’s stay at the club permanent.

The Hammers managed to land the “£8 million rated” defender on loan as a result of a close relationship between the board and Jenkinson’s agent.

There is no first option for the Hammers to take the player at the end of the season but hopes are growing among Hammers insiders that a deal can be done.

We were told this morning talks would be held with Arsenal nearer the need of the season but that the club would definitely do everything it could to make it happen.

With the Gunners injury problems in the right back position having eased since the start of the season, there’s  a better chance that Arsene Wenger may be ready to do business.

ClaretandHugh was told: ” There’s always a chance in football. He is enjoying life here and it may well be we can make something happen.

“Things change in this game all the time so it will be one of those to look at closer to the end of the season.”
