Former Hammer Freddy Kanoute visited the West Ham first team in their Dubai warm weather training camp yesterday.

Kanouté was signed by the Hammers an initial loan basis back in 2000 and immediately formed a strike partnership with Paolo Di Canio. Irons Manager Harry Redknapp made his move permanent which resulted in him scoring 29 goals from 84 appearances in a Claret and Blue shirt. He was sold to Spurs in 2003 for £3.5m.

Freddy retired from football in 2014 and now lives in Dubai with his wife and three children. Freddy established the Kanouté Foundation to promote causes close to his heart. The charity, which also has branches Spain and Mali, opened its flagship project the Sakina Children’s Village (Mali) in 2010.
