It is claimed the Hammers are still lining up a move for Genk’s Kara Mbodj in the summer despite having failed in an attempt to land the player during the January transfer window. The Senegal international team mate of Sakho and Kouyate is seen as a possible replacement for Winston Reid who will become a free agent in the summer.

The 25-year-old is said to be versatile and  can provide cover in a number of positions, it said he can play at either centre-back or in defensive midfield. He’s strong and quick  which would seemingly suit him to the Premier league.

Mbodj has earned 15 caps for Senegal and primarily plays as a defender for both club and country although he’s more than capable of fulfilling a midfield role.

Genk is currently managed by Alex McLeish, who David Sullivan and David Gold used to employ at Birmingham City.

Mbodj has only just returned from AFCON duty yesterday.
