Laudrup ruled out as Hammers candidate
The former Swansea boss has been out of work since being sacked earlier in the season and recently topped a poll as the West Ham fans’ favourite to take over at Upton Park should Sam Allardyce be sacked.
And following the result of a poll conducted by 16 independent Hammers websites today showing 78 per cent want the present manager gone, Laudrup was emerging as a likely replacement.
There is no chance of Allardyce being sacked before the end of the season and a board meeting would need to be called for such a decision to be made.
Normally full agreement between all members of the board is needed for decisions to be enacted but ClaretandHugh has learned that co owner David Sullivan can over-rule should he wish.
Laudrup’s name has been regularly mentioned as a leading candidate along with David Moyes but a trusted source has ruled both out.
He told ClaretandHugh exclusively: “Normally we wouldn’t talk about other candidates whilst we have a manager.
“But we understand there’s a lot of wild speculation around and thus it’s as well to make it clear that nether Michael Laudrup or David Moyes are candidates SHOULD the club go in a different direction”
