West Ham ‘outcast’ Modibo Maiga has been offered a seven figure sum to leave the club.

But the striker – who was even denied a run-out with the Development Squad in a pre-season friendly against Woking earlier this week – has not accepted a pay-off deal.

Maiga is now so far out in the cold that the club believed he may be ready to take his pay-off and kick-start his career either here or in France.

But at the moment Maiga is staying put, perhaps believing that an improved offer will be made by the Irons.

ClaretandHugh was told exclusively the offer had been made over recent days and had been refused,

But a well placed source said: “At the moment Modibo is sitting tight. However, the moment may come when he realises his career is slipping away and decides to take what’s on offer.

“There’s no question that both he and the club need to move on from what hasn’t been a very happy association.”
