Man City fans in West Ham ticket price protest
City fans of course stayed away from the second leg of the League Cup clash with the Irons last season with less than 3,000 turning up on the night.
Thus far, City are understood to have sold less than 2,000 of its 3,000 allocation as calls for a boycott have grown, given the £55 price attached to the game.
Hopes of filling their allocation will be based on the response from the London -based supporters clubs but a Manchester source told ClaretandHugh: “With train travel, food etc its just too much.
“It was the same sort of situation last season when Upton Park tickets for the Cup match went on sale before the first leg.
“There seems to be a view in the east end of London that because City is a wealthy club, the fans have become wealthy – we haven’t! ”
City fans have history of snubbing matches over prices having stayed away from the Emirates in droves two years ago over the £60 price of tickets and holding up banners saying: “Stop ripping us off.”
