Planning permission has been submitted to slightly increase the capacity of the Olympic Stadium in football mode.  Originally the London 2012 converted stadium was planned to seat 54,000 but a new application has asked that now be increased to 54,683. The same application reveals that the stadium will have a capacity of 54,240 in Athletics mode.

The Stadium will retain 60,000 seats but many of these will be cordoned off in football mode to ensure good sight lines to enable the venue to comply with UEFA Category 4 guidelines.
