Winston Reid has slammed the Daily Mirror over their story linking him with what they called his “dream move” to Arsenal.

Hammers co-charman David Gold had quickly told ClaretandHugh exclusively after the story appeared there had been no inquiries or bids for the player and that he should make his mind up to sign a new deal at the Boleyn.

Hopes have been rising substantially inside the club for several days that would happen with no interest emerging in the central defender.

Reid himself – a very infrequent Tweeter – took to the social network to say: “Whoever Wrote that story of me today is not true. Well done.”

The question now is whether he and his advisers will allow the ten days left in this transfer window to elapse before returning to the Hammers negotiating table.

Gold told ClaretandHugh told ClaretandHugh this afternoon: “These are the most difficult contract discussions I have ever been involved in. We need to get this settled for the good of all parties.”
