West Ham played Arsenal at Highbury in the 1975 FA Cup Quarter Final in front of a 54,672 crowd on a muddy pitch. Alan Taylor came into the team to replace Bobby Gould and it was Taylor who scored both goals to make the Hammers the two nil winners on the day to disappoint the Gooners.

West Ham went on to play Ipswich in the semi-finals with Taylor again scoring two goals to win a place at Wembley in the FA Cup final.

Unsurprisingly, it was Alan Taylor yet again who scored two more goals in the Wembley final against Fulham to lift the cup against a disappointed Bobby Moore who had joined Fulham in 1974 after 16 years at West Ham.
