West Ham United’s last Women’s Super League match against Everton was postponed due to a “significant” flu outbreak within the Hammers’ squad last week. The match before that was also called off. The fixture away to Bristol City was postponed as the pitch at Stoke Gifford Stadium was unplayable due to heavy overnight rainfall.
Spurs women took the lead at the half-hour mark with a quickly taken corner which was hammered in by Emma Mitchell from outside the box. The ball went in off the post.
West Ham women left it late to equalise in the 89th minute when the ball fell to the substitute Julia Simic on the edge of the box who rifled a shot into the bottom right corner.
In the 96th minute which was to be the last kick of the game, Spurs nicked a win with a powerful header by Rianna Dean.
Spectators at the game included Sir Trevor Brooking present to support the Women’s game.
