Stoke cast eye at Carlton

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes may make a deadline day move for Carlton Cole after Peter  Odemwingie suffered what’s believed to be a knee ligament injury against Manchester City.

Deadline Day can of course be notoriously misleading but word coming out of Stoke this morning is that Hughes could move for Cole in a deal of around £1.5 million.

Hughes was believed to be looking for a wide player but the Odemwingie injury – which could keep him out for the season – has thrown Cole into the mix.

Cole was linked with a move to Bournemouth last week and was at the centre of some shocking Twitter abuse over the weekend following the game at Southampton.
