West Ham co owner David Sullivan has wished Modibo Maiga well as he leaves the club for a season-long spell at Metz.

The striker – as  revealed by ClaretandHugh  several days ago – has finally made his move across the channel.

And co-chairman Sullivan – speaking to us exclusively today said: “We wish him well, it is just a loan and we are paying the bulk of his wages.

“But it is a chance for the player to put himself in the shop window – we wish him well.”

Metz announced this morning on their website that the player was joining them.

Maiga has scored 6 goals for the Hammers from 37 appearances and has just under two years remaining on his contract.
