Match Winner Andy Carroll and Man of the Match James Collins spoke to BT sport after the final whistle.

Carroll told BT sport interviewer:

“It was a great win you know, the lads dug in deep, it wasn’t easy, it was tough first half after we scored and put the pressure on but I am glad to get the goal and the win, I probably should have (got a second goal), it was a great ball in, I have connected well but the keeper saved it but just delighted with the three points”

Asked whether he meant more scoring against his former club who let him go

“It’s just the same, you want to win, you want to score goals, it doesn’t matter if it is a previous club or not, a lot of people think that but it’s just another game you want to win”

Man of the match Ginger Pele added:

We are playing with confidence at the minute, we had a couple of dodgy results at home early on in the season but since then we have been solid, not conceding too many goals and with the big fellow up front and the lads creating chances we gonna win games. Everyone knows I am happy here, I have been here a long time, like ten years since I signed when I was a lad so to sign the extension for two years to be part of a club that is moving forward into this fantastic new stadium is over the moon for myself and obviously my family are delighted as well”

Collins was asked whether are an European club

“It is definitely moving that way, we were in it, we disappointed ourselves, we played in the Europa early on in the season, maybe looking back it was a good thing as we have had a lot of injuries around Christmas so it is a club that is looking that way, the chairman and manager have high ambitions of doing that so if we keep playing like we did today it won’t be long”
