Mauro Zarate has been told not to become a moaner and groaner but take every opportunity he can to impress boss Sam Allardyce.

ClaretandHugh’s top analyst Leroy Rosenior has been following the growing Zarate clamour with interest and declares: “It’s too easy to chuck in the towel and look for a transfer and I hope he doesn’t do that.

“We all know he has some previous in that area but he’s now a lot more mature and playing for what has become a top club this season.

“There’s pressure and obviously he’s not the usual type of player you would see in a Sam Allardyce squad but the manager is no mug and will realise his qualities.

“Every player has to take the chances he gets and Mauro’s no different. So far he’s done that brilliantly.

“He looked a class act when he came on against Newcastle and scored at Everton – the manager will have seen it as well as everybody else.

“It is down to Mauro to keep on going and give his best. It would not be the right  to be looking for a move so soon after arriving and it also sends out the wrong messages to the market place.”

Leroy believes the player will see the season out and will get more chances as the team gets safer and it’s in the summer he should be looking at things.

He added: “Mauro needs to give himself a chance here. We are a club going places and I hope he feels he has a role to play and that the manager gives him the chance to prove it.”
