West Ham have already sold over 28,000 tickets for Thursday’s UEFA Europa League opener against FC Lusitans and the club hope to sell out all 35,000 by the evening kick off.

The Hammers sold over 12,000 tickets on Friday when the match went on general sale paralysing the ticket office website and phone lines when their experienced huge demand.

An insider told Claret and Hugh “We have never sold that many tickets in a day before for anything”

Despite FC Lusitans being a club no-one has ever heard of before and a game which in unlikely to be the most competitive match we have ever played, Hammers fans seem to have been caught up in the romance of Europe after a long absence together with the excitement of a new manager and three new signings. It may not be the most entertaining game on Thursday but the West Ham loyal support will be outstanding.
