Unhappy Hammers made to sweat it out

West Ham are today becoming convinced that Carlos Bacca will turn them down despite agreeing a near £27 million deal with AC Milan for the 29 year old Colombian striker.

The player was named for the United States pre season tour leaving the Irons in limbo after chairman’s son Jack Sullivan claimed yesterday (Thurs) the club was expecting an answer from him in the “next 48 hours.”

However, sources close to the talks believe the Hammers would know far more by now if a deal was seen as being realistic after upping their personal terms offer to the Colombian.

And although the club has not thrown in the towel we were told by a highly placed source that their hopes were dipping with every passing hour.

ClaretandHugh asked if the odds on a deal were any better than evens and received an immediate response being told: “Looks to us to stand at about 20 per cent. We think we may be being held in reserve as a back-up for him!

“You can never tell of course. Things change but it’s been dragging on for a while now and we would have hoped for an answer by this time.”
