MTJAP trubute to Hughie

Sean and Nigel over at Moore Than Just a Podcast have paid a fitting tribute to website founder Hugh Southon in their latest edition.

Dear Hughie would have been chuffed to bits to hear so many of his old pals like Harry Redknapp and Tony Cottee saying such nice things about him. It’s clear that many at West Ham and the wider football world had sincere affection for the man.

What had been lost and perhaps forgotten over the years of writing for this site was his history on Fleet Street. Hughie had written for almost all of the top national newspapers and, of course, was our beloved Bobby Moore’s ghostwriter.

Award-winning Times football writer Henry Winter had his say on Hughie’s passing; “Lovely man, always friendly and a very good reporter. Passionate and very knowledgeable about West Ham (great contacts). My condolences to Hugh’s family and friends. Rest In Peace.”

Personally, I’m already missing his daily chats about all things West Ham and life.

But great job Sean & Nigel, Hugh would have loved this tribute. You can listen to the podcast here.
