Accrington Stanley have been given an initial allocation of just 800 tickets for the London Stadium for their League cup encounter with West Ham next Wednesday but have only managed to sell 500 of them so far it has been revealed.

Stanley were entitled up to an allocation 8,550 being 15% of  the 57,000 capacity but with an average gate of just 1,900 in a town which has a population of 45,000 they took only 10% of what they were entitled to.  Despite this, the West ham ticket office has reserved the usual away section of 3,000 for the Stanley.

Speaking to ClaretandHugh this afternoon the Accrington Stanley press office told us “Just checked and apparently we were sent an initial 800 tickets and have sold around 500 so far”

West Ham are estimated to have sold just under 35,000 tickets so far for the cup encounter and are hoping to reach around 40,000 by kick-off on Wednesday.

Under the rules of the cup competition 45% of the gate money will be shared with Accrington Stanley with West Ham keeping 45% and 10% going to the football league for prize money and administration. This could net the league two club around £250,000 for the game.
