A final decision is set to be taken when the Confederation of African Football (CAF) meet on November 2 with original hosts Morocco having pulled out.
The Hammers have three high profile players possibly involved, Senegal pair Cheikhou Kouyate and Diafra Sakho (below right) along with Cameroon international Alex Song (right).
Original hosts Morocco, however, have pulled out as the spread of the Ebola virus has raged across Africa, killing more than 4,500 people across west Africa.
South Africa have voiced similar fears and although another six countries have been approached informally concerns are now being expressed within CAF that they may have to postpone the tournament.
“The tournament … may also pose a challenge on how we can grapple with the Ebola challenge engulfing the continent at the moment.”
SAFA President Danny Jordaan added: ‘We must all take care of this pandemic and put strict measures in place.”
