Manuel Pellegrini is looking at the top six and possibly beyond this season.

Most thought it would take him a minimum of the three years on his contract to take West Ham to the top level but after three wins in three games scoring three goals in each ambition is growing.

With 21 points after 16 games and the perfect start to a series of games most believed would harvest points we are perfectly placed to push on.

Messages are being absorbed – nothing is being taken for granted –  and we have a clearly happy squad on our hands where managerial thinking goes much further than the one dimensional to which we have become so used.

It’s not time to rest on our laurels although the mid season sense of satisfaction and confidence among the Irons family is something pretty new and to be enjoyed as we look ahead to Fulham.

Pellegrini, however, is simply set to push on and has his eyes fixed on that top six telling reporters:  “We need to continue to recover that bad start to the season.

“Losing four games in a row, the only way to balance that is try to win four games in a row. We are now in position number 10, five points from the sixth position in the table.

“I always look up. I never look down. I always tell the players they must have a winning mentality, they must decide to be a big team so we must be used to seeing what is happening in front of us.

“I hope in the next three games we can add more points and try to be as near the top as we can.”
