Allardyce: Zarate’s not good enough”

Sam Allardyce has hit back at Mauro Zarate snapping: “He wasn’t good enough.”

And it now appears the only way back to Upton Park would be for the manager to leave in the summer as a war of words broke out between the pair.

The Argentine striker claimed ahead of a medical which will see him move to Queens Park Rangers that he wasn’t given a chance and that Allardyce played his favourites.

However,  the manager declared: ““Clearly it’s a lad who’s very frustrated about not being picked. Why didn’t he play more? Because he wasn’t good enough.

“When you look at what Mauro achieved when he played compared to Valencia, Sakho and Carroll, somebody’s not going to be happy.

“Maybe saying not good enough is a bit harsh but Zarate’s probably had more chances than Carlton Cole and he’s one of my favourites.”

In fact that’s incorrect as Zarate has made just eight appearances to Cole’s ten.
