Former Hammer Alvin Martin has returned to social media to thank West Ham fans for the treatment of his son after his Premier League debut yesterday.

Alvin wrote  “Not been on Twitter for a couple of years ! And don’t intend to return but I would like to thank the WHUFC family especially those at the bridge for the way you treated my boy yesterday but don’t forget how well OUR team played X”

Alvin was working in the Stamford Bridge press box yesterday to witness his son make his West Ham debut and his son ran over to his 61-year-old father to hug each other in tears.

Alvin played 598 games for the Hammers scoring 34 goals so Martin junior has some way to go to catch up with father’s status.

At 33 years old perhaps David has not got the time to achieve the legend status of his dad but he can get cult status from keeping more clean sheets with Hammers fans before Fabianski is ready to return from injury.

Good luck David !
