Anderlecht fined

Anderlecht have been fined after the crowd trouble that marred their clash with West Ham in the Europa Conference League.

BBC Sport reports the Belgian club have been fined £43,900 for “”lighting of fireworks, throwing of objects, acts of damage and crowd disturbances”.

There were ugly scenes in the crowd after the game, which the Irons managed to win 2-1.

Goals from Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen proved decisive, although Sebastiano Esposito pulled a goal back late on with a penalty.

There were injuries reported to two police officers in the clashes after the game, while seats were also ripped out of the away end at the London Stadium.

Flares were also thrown at full-time, when the Belgian side were consigned to defeat.

UEFA has also made it clear to Anderlecht that they must pay for damage to 86 seats, as well as for damage done to the stadium toilets in the away section.

The Irons have yet to complete their group stage journey and still have to play Silkborg and FCSB again.
