Middlesbrough are on the brink of signing West Ham attacker Marcus Browne, with the player due for a medical today according to Football Insider.

West Ham made it known that Browne was available on a permanent transfer and Middlesbrough are reported to have beaten off interest from a number of clubs to secure a deal for the winger.

The news was first broken by EXWhuemployee an hour ago when he said “Marcus Browne is on his way to Middlesbrough to sign a permanent deal there”

The 21-year-old enjoyed a successful season on loan at Oxford United last term, scoring nine goals and creating five assists for the League One club but is unlikely to break into the first team anytime soon under Manuel Pellegrini.

The attacking midfielder joined West ham at the age of eight. A skilful player capable of playing across the forward line, Browne made his senior debut for West Ham United as a substitute in the UEFA Europa League Play-Off round draw at Romanian side Astra Giurgiu in August 2016. Browne has also spent time on loan at Wigan Athletic.

Last summer he travelled with the first-team squad for pre-season training and appeared in the 3-2 defeat by FC Winterthur in Austria on 8 July 2018. Celtic, Rangers and Fulham have all been touted having following the youngster and could make a bid for the Academy attacker who has a contract with the Hammers for another 12 months.
