Another Safety Officer quits London Stadium
The former chief inspector of the Metropolitan police was previously a member of the borough Senior Command Team and leader of the Events & Operations team with responsibility for managing the policing operations for football matches played at Chelsea, Fulham and QPR Football Clubs. He was also involved in a safety role during the London 2o12 Olympics and worked at Fulham in a similar role.
The role has been advertised since February this year with an annual salary of up to £80,000 but is as yet at the time of writing unfilled.
The resignation follows a spate of safety officers quitting their roles last year over alleged concerns. London Stadium safety officer Chris Baker resigned last May after becoming deeply concerned about the retractable seating and its impact on the structure of the ground’s lower tier, the Guardian reported at the time.
