I have never been among those who believe Mikey Antonio’s days at the club are done but sadly

Antonio’s days at the club are far from done

can’t say the same about Aaron Cresswell writes Hughie Southon.

So I was thrilled to bits seeing the pair of them enjoy such a great game against Freiburg last night, notably Mike who was back to his very best.

His forward player was extraordinary at time with some ingenious stiff on display and whose bustling style shook the Germans to their core.

Sadly I haven’t been at my best over the last few nights but the Number 9 kept me enthralled and excited and hopeful that he may even have a couple of seasons left in him.

Freiburg may not be the best but the striker showed enough to suggest that he could remain a force until he eventually retires – hopefully with the Irons.

Cressie scored a fine goal and game, showing too that it may be too early to let him leave the club despite the advancing years.

At the other end of the scale it was great to see young George Earthy appear off the bench which gave hope that the manager is becoming a tad more adventurous in his selection procedure.
