Jonathan Calleri has agreed to join West Ham on loan subject to him having his work permit application  approve in one week’s time said chairman’s son Jack Sullivan.

Speaking on twitter young Jack confirmed “Calleri has agreed to come however, it is subject to a work permit application in a weeks time.”

Calleri is a descendant of an Italian family and said to be eligible to receive an EU passport which would allow him to travel and work in the EU without the need for a work permit but he has problems obtaining an Italian passport.

Earlier this week Sambafoot claimed he had been granted an EU passport paving his loan to West Ham but Jack’s tweet contradicts that and it appears he will go through the normal work permit process.

The 22-year-old was signed by Uruguayan second-tier side in a €11m deal in January from Boca Juniors where he had been playing with former Hammer Carlos Tevez, before being immediately sent out on loan to Brazilian giants Sao Paolo where he’s netted 16 goals. Calleri is said to have consulted Tevez for advice about joining West Ham.
