Here’s where Arnautovic wants to start, what’s likely to be, the last chapter of his footballing life.

The Chinese club bidding to take Marko Arnautovic to the orient has turned out to be Guangzhou and not as believed Shanghai SIPG according to The Guardian.

West Ham writer Jacob Steinberg has reported the newspaper has been told by sources on both sides of the deal that Guangzhou were the real bidders and represented the Arnautovic’s preferred destination.

And the story adds that it would mean him earning £40m over a four-year contract, a large upgrade on his West Ham wage of £90,000 a week.

As has been widely reported the club wanted a fee of £50m but  Guangzhou have not returned with a second offer and Shanghai are yet to enter the bidding for Arnautovic, whose head has been turned by the wages on offer.

ClaretandHugh says: This saga can only have one ending – Arnautovic’s departure and given the spirit engendered into the Hammers squad over recent games it really can’t come a minute too soon BUT ONLY AT THE RIGHT PRICE. Arnie has demonstrated at both Stoke and now with us that his approach to life is all about him and prompted by a brother who seems to be focused on little else than money this problem will raise its head over and over again. Marko’s problem is that he actually believes himself to be a lot better than he is –  demonstrated by the fact that whilst showing the best form of his career none of the seriously big world clubs have shown any interest whatsoever. Given that his boisterous brother claimed he can play for any of them, that it should be Guangzhou who are the only show in town makes such a claim entirely laughable. It would come as no surprise to see the Arnie go on a West Ham strike. Get rid Irons, he’s not one of the greats and can wreck the team spirit with his moaning and groaning.
