Redknapp, of course , brought the new manager to the club as a player back in the nineties and said: “I think West Ham will do very well.
“I think Slaven will do well there. They’re a team that could finish around about halfway again.
“I signed Slaven, and I sold him. He’s a good lad and he was a good player, and I’m sure he’ll do a good job there.
Speaking to Express Sport he added: “Absolutely (the right man for the situation), I think he’ll do very well. There are lots of good players at West Ham. “
“He’ll be given time, I’m sure he will, they’ve got the nucleus of a really good team I think. I think the front two of Sakho and Valencia have got pace. I think they’ll finish round about tenth.”
He’s not surprised to see Julian Dicks on the backroom staff saying: “Its good to get former players back and around the place. I did it with Tim Sherwood and Les Ferdinand at Spurs.
“And I know one thing – with a bench featuring, Slaven, John Hartson and Dicksy, there will only be one lot of winners if it comes to a bit of aggro.”
