Huddersfield game changer Samir Nasri looks set to miss the Saturday evening game against Everton this weekend.

Manuel Pellegrini explained in his pre-match presser that the midfielder took a knock in training and is a doubt for the game.

It’s a big blow to the team so soon after he returned from a muscle problem and although it is only a small issue it looks sufficient to keep him on the sidelines.

Pellegrini said : “Samir had a problem in his calf this week so maybe he will not be able to play. We will see and decide the squad soon.”

Apart from his update on Nasri, Pellegrini indicated there was no further news on other players with injuries revealing tests were still ongoing for striker Andy Carroll after an ankle injury.

He added: “The players with long injuries – Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Carlos Sanchez, Winston Reid – continue with their recoveries.

“Andy Carroll is doing a lot of different medical tests to decide what we must do with his ankle. We will know more about his injury when we finish doing all the different examinations.”

The manager has no regrets about allowing Manu Lanzini  link up with the Aregntine squad saying: “I know if Lanzini is nominated, he should go. I think it was good for him to go. I know all the players like to be involved in their national squad. After that, the coaches must decide if he plays.”
