West Bromwich Albion’s Jonny Evans has explained how Tony Pulis’ team managed to tear the Hammers apart at the weekend.

And it’s clear that the Irons have a second season syndrome to deal with if they are to get back to the winning ways that marked their first season under Slaven Bilic.

The former Manchester United player explained that the WBA  players had closely studied the Irons and had developed a specific game plan on how to bat them.

He said: ““West Ham play a very expansive and open game of football. Last season it worked for them because they caught a lot of teams by surprise.

Teams have watched them. We studied them this week and we saw that they are not always working back and the wingers in wide areas.

They leave a lot of players high up for the counter-attack and we knew if we were patient today and worked the ball in the final third, we could hurt them.
