Baggies would need to break club record to land Hammer

West Bromwich Albion would need to break the bank and pay a club-record transfer fee to prize Grady Diagana away from West Ham

Grady has scored five goals and supplied six assists in his 21 Championship appearances for the Baggies and once the season is able to resume, you would assume that the England Under-21 international will continue to tear up the league as before.

However, according to former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips writing for West Brom News website, it would take a club-record fee to land the young attacker.

He said: “If West Brom really want him, West Ham will slap a huge price-tag on him. If you want him, you’re going to have to pay for him so there’s another stumbling block. I would imagine he’s worth between £10million and £20million.”

The Hammers would be hugely reluctant to let the young winger leave but realistically everyone has a price on their head which is difficult to turn down.

A ClaretandHugh source told us: Whichever division we are in Grady is going to be playing a significant role. He’s shown himself to be outstanding at Championship level and has gained the experience we wanted for him to set him up in the Premier League. We don’t foresee selling him.

“However, we do know that Slaven Bilic loves him to bits as a player.”
