Barcelona are eyeing up a move for Pablo Fornals, according to a new report in Spain.

The Hammers star is seen as a potential alternative to Bernardo Silva, who is staying at Manchester City.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the Catalan giants are eyeing a swoop to sign the Spanish international in this transfer window ahead of the deadline.

The report claims that he could cost up to €35m (£29.8m), which would represent a profit for the Irons.

Barcelona are essentially skint, but they have been able to register the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, and Raphinha as new signings this summer.

Fornals has a contract until 2024 and he has started all four of the Irons’ games this season, scoring the only goal in the 1-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday, with his long-range effort taking a deflection and looping over Emiliano Martinez in the Villa Park net.

Barcelona would be an attractive destination for Fornals, but one has to wonder whether they can afford it.
