Reports that West Ham are in advanced talks with Barcelona to sign striker Martin Braithwaite are wide of the mark.

Barca were given special permission by LaLiga to sign Braithwaite as an emergency transfer in February. The Spanish giants were allowed to sign the striker due to the long-term injury suffered by Luis Suarez that had initially ruled him out for the season.

Braithwaite made 11 total appearances, seven from the bench, and scored once for the LaLiga runners-up.

Braithwaite is surplus to requirements at Barcelona and they will be looking to offload the Denmark international.

A Mundo Deportivo report that the Hammers are in ‘advanced negotiations’ to sign the striker in an £18million (€20m) summer deal.

A  club insider refuted in the claim and said West Ham are in no advanced talks for anyone at the moment and the story was specualtion.

At 29 year of age, Braithewaite doesn’t match the kind of player David Moyes is looking for as he strives to bring down the average age of the first-team squad.
